My first OOTD!!  I saw that @jessicakane issued a #5daydressup challenge so I thought today would be the perfect time to post my first outfit shot.  I have to dress professionally for my job each day, so I always struggle with being appropriate but not boring or frumpy.  I usually try to accomplish this through my accessories.  Of course today I woke up with the start of a nasty head cold—ugh, so ignore the face shot—I swear I have make-up on, not that you can tell from the picture!  Oh, and my nails—obviously in need of a manicure!

Are you participating in the #5daydressup challenge?  What is your “dress code” for work?

Like many of you, I’ve been using the same foundation for quite some time and love it but…  I felt like my skin just wasn’t looking as fresh anymore.   I’m sure the winter air, indoor heat etc isn’t helping, but nonetheless it was time for a change.

I’ve heard and read about @LauraGeller makeup but had never tried the products.  I was flipping channels and her makeup was on @QVC so I tuned in to watch.  They were offering a package that contained her 5 top customer rated products, so I thought that would be a good place to start.  The kit arrived a few days later and the products were packaged in this cute little nylon zippered pouch—I’m a pushover for cute packaging so I was already excited to try the products.  I’ve tried lots of products, who hasn’t, but I have to say, I LOVE these!!!  My skin looks flawless and natural—-hard to achieve anytime, let alone in the winter!   I always love when someone tells me about a product that they use and love, so I thought I’d share my new discovery with all of you!!

The foundation, blush and eye shadow are from @LauraGeller Baked Collection which after reading the description, they start out as liquid and then are baked in terracotta until they become this amazing silky, creamy powder.  I know that you are thinking how can a powder feel creamy??  Me too, but that’s the best way to describe the texture!  Ok, so let’s get to the review of the individual products:

1. Spackle in Champagne

This is a tinted under make-up primer that is supposed to “revive and retexturize” your skin to provide a smooth base for your foundation.  A big claim, but it delivered!  This made my skin glow.   I’m already thinking this alone on those hot, sticky summer days will be perfect!

2.  Balance-n-Brighten Foundation

This looks different from any foundation that I have ever tried.  It is a swirl of neutral colors that feels amazing to the touch.  Claims it will “correct unevenness” and leave skin looking flawless.  Check and check!!  And it SPF15 with built-in antioxidants!  What’s not to Love???

3.  Blush-n-Brighten Cheek Color in Pink Grapefruit

This says that it’s a blush that will work for everyone.  I was skeptical about this because I have a hard time finding the right blush—either too dark, clown like or can’t even tell that I have it on.  Well, I fell in love with this color—-it was just right!

4.  Waterproof Eye Spackle

This is an eyeshadow primer which comes in a click pen and will make the eyeshadow last and be waterproof.  This pen takes a little getting used to—too many clicks, too much is dispensed.  But after a few tries, I got the hang of it.  This did as promised, my eyeshadow didn’t budge all day!

5.  Baked Marble Eyeshadow Duo in Amethyst/Starburst

Both colors are in one container split down the middle.  Great texture, easy to apply and very wearable colors.  Nuff said!

So obviously I LOVE this set of @LauraGeller make-up!Image

Have you ever tried any @LauraGeller make-up products?  What do you think of them?  What are some of you new or tried and true favorites?

I bought this @QVC for $54.96 plus tax/shipping.  Item # A219938

I purchased these products and this is my unsolicited, honest opinion of the products.

Living up to my blog’s name, I am being Fatshionably Late with my New Year’s Resolutions post!

“Don’t let fear stop new adventures.”

Can you believe that this saying was in a fortune cookie that I opened at lunch on New Years Eve day?  I NEVER get fortune cookies that make any sense to me!  So, I decided to let this be a sign for me to finally step out of my comfort zone, take a risk and start this blog that I have been thinking about and planning in my mind and dreams for quite some time.  This saying on a little scrap of paper somehow stirred a feeling of excitement deep inside me that I haven’t felt in a long time. It somehow reinforced the feelings that had led me to start dreaming of this blog but that I had not been able to act upon until that scrap of paper appeared.

My career that had once been the source of that feeling of excitement and passion had somehow without me really noticing turned ever so slowly into a job, a paycheck, a source of ongoing stress, data, deadlines…… a grind.  Few and far between am I able to recapture the moments of passion for what I do, for what I can do , usually and unfortunately quickly tamped down by limitations in time, budget and resources in my department.

The source of passion each day that has never left me is my love of fashion.  Even facing a potential long, stressful, meeting filled day, I always start the morning loving to dress in the outfit that I planned out the night before complete with accessories of course:)  I’m sure that I am not the only person who has reached a point in their career where the excitement that you felt when first starting out has dwindled.  And trust me, in this economy, I am extremely grateful each day that I still have a job to complain about!

So, that brings me back to my one and only New Year’s Resolution:

Don’t let fear stop new adventures.”

This blog will be my new source of excitement, inspiration and fun!  I resolve to spend some time each day reconnecting with my creative side through my love of all things fatshion and beauty.  I hope along the way that maybe some of my posts/musings/fashion finds/choices/reviews /OOTD postings may  provide some enjoyment for others the way that all the wonderful fatshion blogs that I have been reading over the past few months as I started to dream this new adventure have inspired me.

Hello!  My name is Inez and I am a fatshionista in my 40′s living in Pennsylvania.  I have been plus sized the majority of my life and a lover of all things fashion and beauty since I can remember!  Even though I have grown comfortable in my skin as I’ve gotten older, I have become even more confident in my style choices since I stumbled upon the wonderful world of fatshion blogs since I started on Twitter.  I have enjoyed reading so many inspiring stories on the blogs over the past months, that I finally decided to venture into the pond, or maybe ocean would be more appropriate, based on the number of wonderful blogs I’ve discovered!

Why would I start a blog when there are so many great ones already out there???  Well, I would love to become a part of such an inspiring and accepting group of women and I feel that I can add my perspective of living as a plus sized fatshionista in my 40′s since it seems the majority of this incredible group is a tad younger than me!!:)  Hence the name of my blog, Fatshionably Late!

If you are reading this and have a blog, please let me know in your comments.  I am looking to add another inspiring blog to my list to follow!
